National Train a Teach for Free Day – NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course
Guardian 6 Safety Club is partnering with National Train a Teacher Day this year to offer our Basics of Pistol Shooting course for FREE to Teachers, Administration and School Staff on this one day event. We have to start local with this first time around and are only offering it to school staff of Kearny and Hamilton Counties. Seats will fill quickly and we are limited to a dozen students, so don’t wait and miss your opportunity. Either register through this page, call or email.
The NRA Basic Pistol shooting Course is a perfect start for anybody looking to get into plinking, concealed carry or competition shooting. This course will help a new shooter decide which handgun would suit their needs best before having to purchase one. This course will teach new shooters the fundamentals of proper grip, stance, sight alignment, and trigger control, leading to improved marksmanship and handling skills. Experienced shooters also have the opportunity to learn new skills, and gain awareness of any bad habits they didn’t even know were there. Above all firearms safety is emphasized.
The classroom and range practical sessions are kept small in order to give each shooter close attention to help improve their technique. We will have at least two NRA certified Instructors and or Range Safety Officers throughout the class and on the range. We pride ourselves in having male and female instructors to give either perspective.
Recent popularity has been gained by those who live in a household with firearms. Through this course you can expect a thorough education on the mechanics of firearms, as well as an EXTENSIVE review of firearms safety. With the help of this class you can expect to be alleviated of any fear of the firearms in your home, as well as have a new understanding of the joys of the shooting sports.
This course is also a prerequisite if you become interested in taking the NRA’s “personal protection outside the home” course, and “Defensive Pistol”. It also meets the requirement by many states to get your concealed carry weapons permit such as Colorado.
In this course we cover:
- FIREARMS SAFETY
- The Parts of a Pistol
- The Different Types of Pistol
- Shooting Fundamentals (Grip, Stance, Trigger control, Sight alignment)
- Shooting Positions
- Marksmanship Improvement
- Your favorite handgun and about 200 rounds of ammunition for it, .22 caliber pistols are a nice option for this class. (we have .22 and 9mm ammo for purchase and a couple pistols if you don’t know what to buy yet.)
- Eye and Ear protection (but will be made available if needed)
All NRA courses only open to US Citizens with US issued ID.
You are encouraged to bring your own pistols and ammunition if you already have them, however there will be a couple available if you do not own a firearm yet. We currently have Aguila ammunition available for purchase in .22 Caliber and 9mm. Eye and Ear protection will be made available but you are encouraged to bring any safe protective equipment that you feel comfortable using.
Lunch is provided, but you are always welcome to bring your own if you have dietary restrictions. Due to our remote location it is not practical to leave the area to find a dining establishment.
You will receive The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Handbook and a certificate of completion at the end of the course. We will introduce each participant to the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program to keep perfecting your skills long after the class.
This course could be privately taught to a group with as few as 4 shooters, please inquire for pricing and availability.
Bookings are closed for this event.
